Here are our picks for Ottawa’s best west-end breweries

Brew Revolution

Where:
Stittsville – 6081 Hazledan Road
Must-try: Kashmir, Norweigan Pale Ali

Brew Revolution is a fun, local spot ideally placed in Stittsville and very easy to access. This great brewery offers 10 beers currently, including seasonal brews. They also offer guest taps as well as wine from KIN vineyard in Carp – another local favourite.

The vibe in this tap-house is so much fun and has a vintage music theme. The entire front of window of the restaurant is a garage door that opens up to bring the outside in. The staff here are friendly, chill, and know everything about the brews offered.

Sit back with a cold pint inside or on their patio and enjoy some light eats; everything from meatballs, kettle chips, sausage rolls, to charcuterie.

This is an amazing spot to enjoy a patio drink on a hot day, or simply grab bottle to-go with their easy access self-serve fridges. Truly a spot you MUST try, and one of the newer additions to Ottawa’s bustling craft beer industry.

Kichesippi

Where: Bells Corners  – 2265 Robertson Road
Must-try:
1855, Amber Ale

Arguably one of Ottawa’s first and most notable craft breweries, this spot is located just across the street from the Christine Hauschild Team office!

“Kichessippi” actually means “The Great River” and is a nod to Ottawa’s rich history. Truly a brewery synonymous with Ottawa’s craft beer culture, Kichissippi serves up 15 different beers (including regular rotation and seasonal fare) as well as 4 soda flavours, Carp Custom Creamery ice cream, and a lot of rad merch.

Their patio offers lots of space and a fantastic food truck if you get hungry. The art inside the brewery and on the cans is just as bright as the warm and friendly staff always ready to serve you up a great pint.

We recommend trying the classic 1855 Amber Ale and the Heller Highwater lager to start out, but don’t shy away from the fantastic seasonal offerings, either!

Evergreen Craft Ale

Where: Kanata Lakes – 21-767 Silver Seven Road
Must-try:
Afternoon Delight, Session IPA

The new guy in town, Evergreen offers a trendy, fresh, and fun approach to their tap house and their beer. Located just minutes from Kanata Lakes, this great local spot has tonnes to offer!

Enjoy one of 10 brews created right in house with some awesome eats, our favourite is the pretzels! (because nothing goes with beer quite like soft pretzels, right?) The patio is the best place to enjoy these fantastic treats.

This brewery/tap house really gives you the feel of being in an authentic brewery because all the equipment is exposed. You can spend hours speaking to the bartenders and servers about their story and sampling all of the fantastic beer.

Big Rig Brewing

Where: Various locations – Flagship location in Nepean – 2750 Iris Street
Must-try:
Award-winning Big Rig Gold – Lagered Ale

You can’t talk about Ottawa’s best west-end breweries without talking about Big Rig. Big Rig has deep roots in Ottawa and has a solid foundation among the hockey community. Named after and partly owned by famed Ottawa Senators defenceman Chris Phillips, this brewery opened it’s doors in 2012.

While it’s not under the same ownership today, the brewery has since expanded to 2 locations both in Ottawa’s east and west ends. Their award winning brews and fantastic restaurant have offered something for everyone to enjoy over the years.

To get the full experience, we recommend visiting their flagship location in Ottawa’s west end and trying out a beer flight so you can get a little taste of a few beers. Also amazing here: the fish and chips and Canadian classic poutine!

Whiprsnapr
