North Gower

North Gower

North Gower is a small rural village located 20 minutes south of Ottawa on HWY 416 off of Roger Stevens Drive. The village is located 15 minutes south of Kanata and Nepean, and about 15 minutes west of Manotick. Established in 1846, the village was situated along Stevens Creek and about 10 km from Osgoode where the rail station was located. Primarily a rural, farming town, the residents of the town were mostly farmers or shop workers for the various shops in town, like the wagon shop, mechanical shops, and more.

In 2001, along with several other municipalities, North Gower amalgamated to become a part of the City of Ottawa. The family-friendly town is home to a general store, hardware store, a handful of local restaurants, farmers market, elementary school, and more. This quaint place has just about all of your essentials all wrapped up in the charm of a small town.

North Gower Real Estate consists mainly of older construction in the main village. Detached, single family homes constructed with brick are common. Some homes even date back to the late 1800’s and are constructed in the classic farm house style. Homes are set on good sized lots and are surrounded by mature greenery. In the outer edges of the town, you’ll find some new construction as well as some estate lot homes backing onto gorgeous green space. With North Gower Real Estate expanding, some more new home development construction on the horizon, as well as a major warehouse development (potentially) happening within the next few years, the town is set to see some substantial growth. With young people increasingly choosing to move to the country, it’s likely we’ll see this town grow even more in time.
