Bells Corners is a neighbourhood in the City of Ottawa located mainly between HWY 417, Hwy 416, Hunt Club Drive Rd. West and Moodie Drive with some residences located along Robertson Rd. West. Formerly a part of the City of Nepean, The region has roots as a dairy and farming region. The neighbourhood is flanked by farmers fields and the green belt and sits in between Nepean and Kanata.
More recently, the area has been known to hose some large tech companies as well as the new DND headquarters located along Moodie Dr. which has become a major employer for people living in the area. The economy in the area has been attracting new residents over the last few years and Bells Corners is considered an up-and-coming desirable neighbourhood to own property today.
The demographics in the area have shifted throughout the years. The area was previously well known as a retirement community with 3 major retirement residences in its comparatively small geographical footprint. Today, the area has a mixed bag of people including families, students (because of proximity to Algonquin College) and young professionals working in surrounding government or tech jobs.
Homes in this area primarily consist of single family homes from the mid-century era. Large lots with bungalows, hi-ranch or side split homes built from brick and siding are common in the area. Layouts in the homes are classic and easy to manipulate, making them great candidates for re-modelling.
The area also houses a fair number of townhouses, some as a part of condominium corporations or joint use agreements. These homes usually consist of classic, 2-3 bedroom townhome layouts ideal for first time buyers or those looking for a low-maintenance lifestyle.
