Days 19-20: Re-painting & touch-ups

One of the cheapest and easiest ways to spruce up your home is with fresh paint!

If your home has a unique colour scheme with dark colours (think dark blues, reds, etc.) then you may want to consider re-painting your home to a neutral colour before selling as this will appeal to more buyers. Remember, this is your chance to put your “buyer hat” on!

Take some time to touch up the spots you might miss with extra paint, like scuffs on hallway walls in the mud room/foyer, baseboards, trim around doors/windows, etc.

Our in-house staging consultant can help with all of these items if you’re not sure where to start.

Day 21: Odd repairs

Now is the time to tackle those odd repairs you’ve been putting off for months, even years.

Think little here – repairing window screens with holes in them, patching holes in walls from pictures, replacing a missing cabinet knob, changing batteries in carbon monoxide or smoke detectors, replacing furnace filters, etc.

These little details are things that buyers notice and they’ll make your home stand out against competition.

Day 22: Windows

Brighter is better.

You would be amazed at how much grime ends up on your windows over time. Dirt, water spots, salt, and many other things gradually accumulate on your windows to the point where you don’t even notice.

All you need it a bottle of glass cleaner, paper towel, and perhaps a ladder (depending on your home – please remember to be safe here!) You’ll immediately notice how much brighter your home is once you windows are cleaned inside and out.

Day 23: Curb appeal

The first thing buyers will see when they roll up to your house is the outside of the house – no surprises here. This will be the very first impression they get!

There are so many things you can do to spruce up your curb appeal that don’t necessarily require breaking the bank.

Start by cleaning up your yard an garden, invest in some seasonal potted plants if you’re able to. Weed the garden, mow the lawn, and paint your door if it has one too many scuffs and keep your patio clean and inviting. Keeping the front of your home tidy makes a huge difference!

Make sure to check out week 1, week 2, and week 3 for additional tips! Only one more week!
